In this paper, we proposed an information fusion method for enhancement of automatic dependent surveillance - broadcast(ADS-B) system which is one of the next generation navigation system. Although ADS-B provides better performance than traditional radar, ADS-B still has error due to dependence of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) information. In this paper, we improved the ADS-B performance using information fusion of multilateration (MLAT) and wide area multilateration (WAM). Information fusion provides accurate data compared to original data. Mostly, information fusion methods use Kalman filter or IMM(interacting multiple model) filter as a subfilter. However, we used Robust IMM filter as a subfilter to improve the aircraft tracking performance. Also, we use actual ADS-B data not virtual data to increase reliability of our information fusion method.

This paper describes deployment of a sea based sensor platform for the detection of a submarine launched ballistic missile (SLBM). Recently, North Korea successfully conducted the underwater launching test of the SLBM, which will seriously threaten the global security. To defend these threats successfully, a sensor platform of the ballistic missile defense (BMD) should be deployed in the area of high detection probability of the missile. The maximum detection range characteristics of the typical radar sensor system, however, depend on the radar cross section (RCS) and flight trajectories of the target. In this point of view, this work analyzed the flight trajectories based on the tactics and calculated the RCS of the SLBM. In addition, sea based sensor platform position is proposed from the analysis of the detection time.

In the end of 1990’s, future free flight technology had been developed and tested in America and government established the plan for free flight until 2017. Aircraft separation assurance must be secured essentially to avoid collision between aircrafts before Free Flight comes true. Now, Civil aircraft has rules about avoidance activity with traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) but it can`t apply to light aircraft. So there is a need about alternative method to apply light-aircraft because it has space and price problem to use TCAS. In this paper, TCAS algorithm has been modified and verified by simulating with LABVIEW program under ADS-B condition to get miniaturization and weight lighting cheaply. By simulating, collision alert algorithm is analyzed and verified with collision situation proposed by ICAO, and 100% checked for performing the alert announciation on all cases by TCAS standards.

This paper considers the transfer alignment in the inertial navigation system which has lever-arm and the time delay in the velocity measurement. We suggest a method to improve the performance of the velocity matching. First, we analyze the estimation performance of the velocity matching through the tuning of the two covariance matrices of process noise and measurement noise. Next we provide some maneuvering conditions of the vehicles to improve the estimation performance using the observability analysis. The analysis results are verified using the computer simulations, which show that cruise movements do not provide the azimuth estimation of the vehicles, while east or north accelerating movement can provide.

Recently, researches on sensor-based U-health applications that provide personal health information such as blood pressure, body temperature, and glucose, have actively been studied. The health information obtained via sensors, however, may have accuracy problems so that they can not be used unprocessed. This paper proposes a sensor abstraction layer for enhancing the accuracy of sensor readings from biomedical sensors that interact with smart phones. This layer recognizes sensor types and converts sensor readings into a form as specified in ISO/IEEE 11073 Personal Health Standard. When necessary, not only a filtering method that eliminates outlier values from sensor readings but also a summarization method that transforms them into more suitable forms, can also be applied. An android-based development board is used for the evaluation of proposed sensor abstraction layer. The results obtained by applying filtering and summarization show improved accuracy over unprocessed sensor readings of the body temperature and heartbeat sensors.

This paper suggests detection system for the movement of patient on bed based on IEEE802.15.4 by using pressure pad and guard sensor. The system is designed to detect ordinary activities of patients on bed as well as patients’ falling from the bed while sleeping at night. The node that is installed at bed sends data to gather when the pressure pad and sensor of guard detect patients’ activities and falling. These data sent to gather are transmitted to monitor at help desk by TCP/IP communication. To remove unnecessary data that occurred due to switch chattering during tossing and turning, timer of MCU is used. Also, Communication module can change transmission power to apply this system to various environments of hospital room. Therefore, the nurse can take care of patients on bed in real time with data about patients’ conditions.
