This paper specifies several considerations about assessing safety-critical software in the aerospace domain. In order to evaluate safety critical software in the aerospace industry, it is required to identify an information of evaluation criteria of software under evaluation. The information is specified in the standard, but determination of evaluation criteria cannot be decided by itself and depends on the results of safety assessment of a system and system design. Thus, this paper explains required information of system development standard and safety assessment standard to determine software evaluation criteria. It surveys existing methodologies about evaluating software, and suggests method which is adapted to evaluation of an advanced surface movement guidance and control system (A-SMGCS) software.

In this paper, we propose a secure alternative for improving airspace capacity of Incheon International Airport. Since the direction of simultaneous independent approaches to runway 15/16 radar-guided approach for ILS approach procedures for the need to provide control services, in view of the radar is the smallest possible no-fly zone airspace propose the demilitarized zone (P-518) adjustment. If possible simultaneous independent approaches to secure a temporary increase in the holding area due to traffic, the military training airspace gradually secured a total of 10 miles by 5 miles, some military training airspace in Osan Approach Control is proposed to include in Seoul Approach Control.

Multilateration systems are used to provide the position of aircraft in flight or on airport runways. In the multilateration systems, the interrogator is an important transmitter that used to interrogate the airplanes with appropriately scenario in surveillance airspace. Whisper-Shout interrogation sequence, which is one of the key functions of the interrogator, can control airport traffic density when intruder airplanes are coming into the surveillance airspace. Therefore collision chance between airplanes could be reduced and also get highly accurate location of incoming airplane in multilateration systems. In this paper, we developed the interrogator that allows it to transmit Mode A/C and Mode S interrogations which is similar to existing secondary surveillance radar. With appropriately controlled Whisper-Shout sequence in the interrogator, the multilateration systems can avoid synchronous garbling and FRUIT phenomenons caused by receiving multiple responses from a number of airplanes.

Motivated by continuous increase in flight demand, awareness of the importance in developing ways to increase aircraft operational efficiency on the airport movement area has been raised. This paper proposes a new routing algorithm for providing the shortest path in a right time, enhancing the aircraft movement efficiency. Many researches on developing algorithms have been performed, for example, Dijkstra algorithm and A* algorithm. The Dijkstra algorithm provide optimal solution but could possibly provide it with a cost of relatively longer computation time. On the other hand, A* algorithm does not guarantee the optimality of a solution. In this paper, we suggest a Hybrid A* algorithm, incorporating both algorithms to eliminate the weaknesses. Rigorous test shows the proposed Hybrid A* algorithm may achieve shorter computing time and optimality in searching the shortest path.

Among various fields of the CNS/ATM, the surveillance field which includes ADS-B system, MLAT system, and WAM system is implemented. These next generation systems provide superior performance in tracking aircrafts. However, They still have error. In this paper, filtering algorithm is proposed in order to enhance aircraft tracking performance of ADS-B, MLAT, and WAM systems. The proposed method is a Robust Interacting Multiple Model filter, called Robust IMM filter, that improves IMM filter. The Robust IMM filter can not only improves the aircraft tracking performance but also track aircraft continually using estimates calculated from the filter when data losses occur. The simulation results of the proposed aircraft tracking methods show that the filtering data provides a better performance up to an average of 19.21%.

This paper surveys vision based autonomous navigation technologies for unmanned systems. Main branches of visual navigation technologies are visual servoing, visual odometry, and visual simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). Visual servoingprovides velocity input which guides mobile system to desired pose. This input velocity is calculated from feature difference between desired image and acquired image. Visual odometry is the technology that estimates the relative pose between frames of consecutive image. This can improve the accuracy when compared with the exisiting dead-reckoning methods. Visual SLAM aims for constructing map of unknown environment and determining mobile system’s location simultaneously, which is essential for operation of unmanned systems in unknown environments. The trend of visual navigation is grasped by examining foreign research cases related to visual navigation technology.

Due to the increase in the data traffic for the aeronautical communications, LDACS has been proposed to support the data link in the continental domain. LDACS is defined in two standards of LDACS type-1 and LDACS type-2, which are going to be selected through the intensive comparison. In this paper, we analyzed two types of standards and evaluated their performance for various channel models. Simulation results show that both LDACS type-1 and LDACS type-2 have a good performance in the en-route channel model, while they have a poor performance in the airport channel model. In the comparison results for LDACS type-1 and LDACS type-2, LDACS type-1 shows the better performance of 1dB than LDACS type-2 owing to the stronger channel coding technique.

The compensation characteristics of WDM channels depending on residual dispersion per spans (RDPS) deviation in optical links with the randomly distributed RDPS for the adaptive configuration are investigated in this paper. Also, the link design rule related with RDPS deviations is proposed, from the viewpoint of the allowable net residual dispersion (NRD). It is confirmed that the effect of compensation for the distorted WDM channels is more increased as RDPS deviation is smaller. Also, it is confirmed that the decrease of the allowable NRD range for the exact eye opening penalty (EOP) is proportional to RDPS deviation. Therefore, the results of this research is expected to be the design reference for the flexible link configuration of long-haul optical transmission links.

This paper has studied about the scrambling occurrence frequency in UTF-8 coding system for Unicode Hangul Jamo codes. The scrambling methode applied in the study is HDB-3 in AMI line coding that is international transmission standard. In the study, the source coding rule was applied to analysis the scrambling occurrence. The quantity of the scrambling occurrence was calculated by the number of times and frequency rate of the scrambling occurrence in Hangul Jamo and Compatibity Hangul Jamo. In the case of Hangul Jamo, the number of times and frequency rate in Unicode and UTF-8 were 24times, 52% and 148times, 228% respectively. In the case of Compatibility Hangul Jamo, that were 10times, 14% and 83times, 131% respectively. As a result, when Hangul Jamo and Compatibility Hangul Jamo in UNICODE were transformed to UTF-8, the scrambling frequency rates were increased 340% and 851% respectively.

Wireless communication system for firefighters has an important role as the last communication method between the commander and the firefighters in disaster sites like fire. But the operation of Gyeongnam wireless communication system is installed, and maintained and controlled without criteria for the selection of a transmitting station and the analysis of propagation environment because of the lack of budget and the absence of professional personnel. To improve the performance of the radio station, this paper theoretically calculated free space loss of UHF 400 MHz band used by all firefighters in Gyeongnam and diffractions caused by single and multiple obstacles and computed the error after comparing the results of the actual measurement to those of simulation with FRAS operated by KFL. In the results, Deygout model was the most consistent with the actual measurement for 400MHz band in Kimhae site.
