The functionality of BNWAS and its operations are investigated through its international standard. But the BNWAS is being used currently in the ship had difficulty in monitoring. Several kinds of data are generated from many equipments in BNWAS, such as NMEA-0183 data or NMEA-2000. In this paper, we have proposed a method of the multimedia data transmission using a communication protocol based on slower NMEA-0183, which is mainly used in BNWAS. Data compression techniques are needed for smooth streaming services of the multimedia data in the low data rate over the NMEA-0183 interface. Although these data are mainly used for the instruments of ship, their efficient transmission may be needed if they are managed to control the BNWAS equipment with sensors.

Mobile robots use various sensors for navigation such as wheel encoder, vision sensor, sonar, and laser sensors. Dead reckoning is used with wheel encoder, resulting in the accumulation of positioning errors. For that reason wheel encoder can not be used alone. Too much information of vision sensors leads to an increase in the number of features and complexity of perception scheme. Also Sonar sensor is not suitable for positioning because of its poor accuracy. On the other hand, laser sensor provides accurate distance information relatively. In this paper we propose to extract the angular information from the distance information of laser range finder and use the Kalman filter that match the heading and distance of the laser range finder and those of wheel encoder. For laser scanner with one feature point error may increase much when the feature point is variant or jumping to a new feature point. To solve the problem, we propose to use two feature points and show that the positioning error can be reduced much.

Recently UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle) is frequently used not only for military purpose but also for civil purpose. UAV automatically navigates following the coordinates input in advance using GPS information. However it is impossible when GPS cannot be received because of jamming or external interference. In order to solve this problem, we propose a real-time segmentation and classification algorithm for the specific regions from UAV image in this paper. We use the super-pixels algorithm using graph-based image segmentation as a pre-processing stage for the feature extraction. We choose the most ideal model by analyzing various color models and mixture color models. Also, we use support vector machine for classification, which is one of the machine learning algorithms and can use small quantity of training data. 18 color and texture feature vectors are extracted from the UAV image, then 3 classes of regions; river, vinyl house, rice filed are classified in real-time through training and prediction processes.

For transmitting the ultra-high speed optical signals with better performance, the techniques to suppress or mitigate the signal distortion due to group velocity dispersion and optical Kerr effects are required. Dispersion management (DM), optical phase conjugation, and the combination of these two are promising techniques to compensate for the signal distortion. However, the fixed length of single mode fiber (SMF) and the fixed residual dispersion per span (RDPS) usually used in these optical links restricts flexible link configuration. The goal of this paper is to investigate the possibility of the flexible configurations of the ultra-high and long-haul optical transmission systems by using the artificial and the random distribution of SMF length and RDPS of each fiber spans consisted of the optical link. It is confirmed that the proposed link configurations should be one of the methods suitable for implementing the flexible optical transmission systems, however which depend on other link parameters, such as the averaged RDPS, and the launch power.

Digital load is increasing suddenly for various reasons, such as easy control and management. Accordingly, a consumption pattern of load is becoming DC. However, the power supply is supplied by AC power. The load power supply substantially needs DC power. AC power has to be converted to DC power. Renewable energy sources like solar, wind, fuel cells are DC power generation, but the transfer needs to through by AC power, thus DC power has to be converted to AC power. Resultantly, a multi-stage conversion loss is constantly increasing. The power distribution system of DC-based is required for effective use of these energy sources. This requires a DC load, as well as is necessary to develop DC ELCB which are able to detect DC leakage current for implementing protection. In this study, it realize detection algorithm about DC leakage current to verify the performance of the sensor and apply it to the ELCB which is based on DC. Therefore, it is expected to protect operating of DC power distribution system.

Genetic Algorithms are robust search and optimization techniques but have some problems such as premature convergence and convergence to local extremum. As population diversity converges to low value, the search ability decreases and converges to local extremum but population diversity converges to high value, then the search ability increases and converges to global optimum or genetic algorithm may diverge. To guarantee that genetic algorithms converge to the global optima, the genetic operators should be chosen properly. In this paper, we propose the genetic operators with the hybrid function of the average Hamming distance and the fitness value to maintain the diversity of the GA``s population for escaping from the premature convergence. Results of simulation studies verified the effects of the mutation operator for maintaining diversity and the other operators for improving convergence properties as well as the feasibility of using proposed genetic operators on convergence properties to avoid premature convergence and convergence to local extremum.

CMOS technology based on PCA is very efficient at an implementation of memory or ALU. However, there has been a growing interest in quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) because of the limitation of CMOS scaling. In this paper, we propose a design of PCA architecture based on QCA. In the proposed PCA design, we utilize D flip-flop and XOR logic gate without wire crossing technique, and design a input and rule control switches. In experiment, we perform the simulation of the proposed PCA architecture by QCADesigner. As the result, we confirm the efficiency the proposed architecture.
