In this paper, the GPS cycle-slip detection for carrier-phase based positioning of land vehicle is presented. For the carrier phase based positioning, cycle-slip detection is necessary to get the reliability of positioning result. There exists many cycle-slip detection algorithms, but we detect the cycle-slip by using the monitoring value which is defined as residual between the carrier phase measurement and estimated value from low-cost inertial sensor. To achieve goal of paper, low-cost cycle-slip detection system, permissible specification region of inertial sensor is derived. By using the result of permissible region, appropriate inertial sensor of cycle-slip detection can be decided, proper cost and proper specification. To verify the result of this paper, we conduct the rate table test. As a result, required cycle-slip detection performance is satisfied conservatively.

As with any ships, adequate power provision is crucial, especially on the ocean navigating ships far from the land. In order to resolve the effective and economic power supply system of any ship in operation, in this paper, we propose a power management system that intelligently controls the power supply in ships. Power management systems in this design consist of a power load detection system, a generator configuration system, and a power monitoring system respectively. The CT / PT sensor is used to measure amount of current and power in the power detection system, and according to the collected information from various sensor, the generator configuration system will switch on and off the main / sub generator effectively. Finally, the power monitoring system will display all status information of this power management system at a glance for users. This power management systems implemented in this paper is evaluated via real-time experiments, which works well as designed, and certified by KSCIEC61892-1:2012 and KSCIEC60950-1:2008.

When jamming signal is received, there would be malfunctions in GPS-based precise location systems. Especially, in aviation fields, these malfunctions may lead to more serious damages. Naturally, there are some research results about the prevention or location method for one jammer, but it is hard to identify and obtain measurements when multiple and various type signals are received. Therefore, we propose a method of identification and measurements acquisition algorithm in order to localize the multiple jammers which transmit CW, DSSS and SCW type signals. Also, a computer simulation is carried out so as to validate the feasibility of the proposed method by using MATLAB. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the proposed method successfully identified the signal type and acquired the measurements of CW, DSSS and SCW type signals.

Since GBAS is a navaid facility to provide precision approach service to aircrafts landing at airports, it must be approved by the air navigation service provider or the aviation regulator to be declared operational. However, Korea has no experience in developing or operating the system so there is no approval criteria for GBAS. In order to develop the criteria in case of the future GBAS procurement, Korea Aerospace Research Institute has been testing the installed commercial GBAS station, SLS-4000, in Gimpo International Airport. This paper summarizes the criteria development results focusing on the system design approval. The criteria have been outlined based on the other leading nations` cases and documentations and established in detail on the basis of the FAA SDA artifacts. Those will be directly used for GBAS approval procedure in Korea and are expected to be useful in system requirement analysis, design, development and artifact management in case of own GNSS-based navaid system development in the future.

By using geolocation and maps, we need to trace the path of ourselves, others, or the objects. Until now, we used a native apps development mehod to develop path tracking systems in mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet computers. A disadvantage of this method is that we have to work again to provide the same service on different platforms. Web Apps and Hybrid Apps are developed to recover this disadvantage. Since Hybrid Apps look like Native Apps apparently, users prefer Hybrid Apps to Web Apps. In this paper, we develop a hybrid app which can trace the path on mobile devices. The recently suggested next generation markup language, HTML5, has geolocation features. By using them, we implemented a hybrid app for a path tracking system. First, we create a web app using HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, Then, PhoneGap, a mobile development framework, is used to convert it to the hybrid app. By implementing hybrid app, various apps which need path tracking can be developed rapidly and effectively, regardless of the mobile devices.

For the efficient use of the insufficient frequency resources, a precise prediction of field strength based on various propagation environments should be set up to design of radio stations with reliable transmit power and service coverage. Therefore, many countries have tried to secure the propagation models suitable for their each geographical environments, and also, some models like BCAST were developed by Korea, but these models give the different results compared to measured values. In this paper, based on the measurements of DTV broadcasting services in domestic rural area, analysis and comparison of ITU-R P.1546 and BCAST models provide errors between measured and predicted values, and some points for improving SMI system has been proposed. As a result, P.1546 model provides the valid predicted data similar to measured data, but BCAST model has some problems of large deviation and higher prediction to measured data. In future, these problems and fading loss due to a forest or group of trees, and reflection loss due to a lake or sea need to be studied carefully.

In this paper, a small inverted-F antenna with adjustable characteristics is proposed with use of lumped elements, capacitor and resistor. Capacitor is inserted between end of the antenna and ground for size reduction and tuning of resonant frequency. On the other hand, 0 Ω resistor is replaced as the short line connected to ground. The movement of short point due to use of 0 Ω resistor results in providing variation of input impedance. Therefore optimum characteristics can be obtained only by proper choice of capacitor and short point without redesign of it`s geometry. In order to check the validity, the proposed antenna is designed and fabricated for 2.4 GHz frequency band, and then is applied to a product of Zigbee wireless remote controller. As a result, the size of applied antenna is 8.5 × 4.5 mm2 and it is observed that the measured bandwidth and antenna gain are 150 MHz and 2 dBi respectively without redesign of the antenna.

This paper presents a compact power divider using microstrip-slotline transition technology. By using the microstrip-slotline transition, the λ/4 transmission lines of the divider can be changed to two λ/8 transmission lines in the multilayer structure. In the microstrip-slotline transition, we have used via holes to make a short circuit at the microstrip line and embedded spiral configuration stubs to reduce the electrical length of an open circuit at the slotline end point. For validating the microstrip-slotline technique, we have simulated and implemented the power divider with embedded spiral and via hole configuration circuits at a frequency of 2 GHz. Good agreement between the simulation and the measurement results is obtained at the operating frequency.

In this paper, π/4-DQPSK modem according to ITU-R M.1842-1 recommendation Annex1 is investigated and simulated. At first, standardization and technical trend of VHF maritime mobile communication are introduced. The π/4-DQPSK modem defined in the Annex1 should support 28.8Kbps bit transmission rate within 25KHz frequency bandwidth. We describe the system model and simulation process of π/4-DQPSK modem transmitter and receiver design with RRC(Root Raised Cosine) transmitter and receiver filter. Then we suggest various graphical simulation results(time domain signals, constellation, power spectral density according to roll-off factor, eye diagram), and show simulated BER performance of the modem. From the simulation results, it is shown that roll-off factor of RRC filter affects to BER performance according to SNR and the designed simulation model meets the spectrum mask requirement suggested in ITU-R M.1842-1 recommendation.

In this paper, we present a low-complexity non-coherent demodulation algorithm and hardware architecture for LR-WPAN systems which can support the variable data rate for various applications. The need for LR-WPAN systems that can support the variable data rate is increasing due to the emergence of various sensor applications. Since the existing symbol based double correlation (SBDC) algorithm requires the increase of complexity to support the variable data rate, we propose the sample based double correlation (SPDC) algorithm which can be implemented without the increase of complexity. The proposed non-coherent demodulator was designed by verilog HDL and implemented with FPGA prototype board.

This paper studies the security module for the reliable transmission of the meter reading and the control data between the remote terminals and the upper server-side in smart water grid. The proposed security module was implemented to make it attachable to the remote terminal without security function. In particular, unlike the smart grid of electric field, the low power is considered due to the use of battery power in the smart water grid, and the ARIA-GCM-128 symmetric key method is adopted taking into the account that the damp and constrictive environments by the installed meter location in the underground occur a communication obstacle on building of the large-scale network system. The encryption module of this paper was devised to ensure the safety between the reading data on the terminal and the control data from the upper server, and secure the stability of the remote meter reading system by taking protection against an arbitrary alteration or modification.

This paper has presented that fringing-electric fields enhanced by a finger-type electrode can improve the tunability of the tunable capacitor. Its top electrodes with different area and line width are designed in types of the finger for a long conducting perimeter. The tunable varactors were fabricated on a quartz substrate employing a multi-layer dielectric of a para/ferro/para-electric thin film. Compared to the conventional capacitor, finger-type capacitors are analyzed in terms of effective capacitance and tunablility. Their effective capacitance and tunability of the varactors with the long perimeter increase 24~40 % and 7~12 %, respectively, due to enhanced fringing electric fields from 1 to 2.5 GHz.

In this paper, we analyse the vulnerabilities of KL scheme which is an ID-based authentication scheme for AMI network, and propose two kinds of authentication schemes which satisfy forward secrecy as well as security requirements introduced in the previous works. In the first scheme, we use MDMS which is the supervising system located in an electrical company for a time-synchronizing server, in order to synchronize smart grid devices in home, and we process device authentication with a new secret value generated by OTP function every session. In the second scheme, we use a secret hash-chain mechanism for authentication process, so we can use a new secret value every session. The proposed two schemes have strong points and weak points respectively and those depend on the services area and its environment, so we can select one of them efficiently considering real aspects of AMI environment.

A panoramic video which supports to make viewers feel an immersion through fitting to a wide field of view (FOV) larger than the human visual angle needs an interactive viewing method such as selecting targeted view point among widely viewing points of a panoramic video because it difficult to simultaneously view a whole panoramic video due to a limited viewing environment and bandwidth. When a user officially uses a view navigation in order to select a view point, it happens waste of resources such as bandwidth owing to the transmitted video data of unnecessary view points. Therefore, this paper proposes the spatial-temporal prediction filter (STPF) which is based on the direction and velocity of the view navigation for transmitting only the necessary video data. As a result of simulation, STPF reduces bitrate saving rates by from 6% to 37% compared to conventional methods in the interactive panoramic video streaming service required high bandwidth.

In case Wi-Fi network based First responder``s position tracking system is used, range measurement must be generated from RSSI finger print database. However, it is impossible to build up finger print database and to perform rescue operation at same time in the scene of rescue. In this paper, improvised Wi-Fi network without finger print database and pedestrian dead reckoning based first responders tracking system is proposed.

In modern networks, data rate is getting faster and transferred data is extremely increased. At this point, the malicious codes are evolving to various types very fast, and the frequency of occurring new malicious code is very short. So, it is hard to collect/analyze data using general networks with the techniques like traditional intrusion detection or anormaly detection. In this paper, we collect and analyze the data more effectively with cloud environment than general simple networks. Also we analyze the malicious code which is similar to real network`s malware, using botnet server/client includes DNS Spoofing attack.
